Are you an experienced Support Worker with a strong background in dementia care?

Mells Care is seeking compassionate and reliable Support Workers to provide person centred support to participants living with dementia and complex support needs in Fernvale/Lowood region.

About the role

This position involves supporting participants in their daily routines while promoting dignity, emotional wellbeing, and independence. This role is best suited to individuals who demonstrate patience, emotional regulation, and a consistent, calm approach to care.

What you will do

• You will provide support with personal care, meal preparation and daily routines

• Deliver dementia informed care aligned with individual support plans

• Use appropriate communication and behavioural support strategies

• Support meaningful engagement based on the participant's congnitive stage

• Implement dementia friendly strategies and communication approaches

• Work collaboratively with families, coordinators and the broader care team

• Maintain clear and accurate documentation including progress notes and incident reports

About You

• Demonstrated experience in supporting people living with dementia (professional or lived experience)

• Strong emotional intelligence and ability to respond to complex behaviours

• Calm, patient, and consistent approach to care

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays

• Experiencing supporting people with dementia, mental health conditions, cognitive decline, or behaviours of concern will be highly regarded

What You Need

• Current First Aid and CPR

• Working with Children Card (Blue Card)

• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module

• Current driver's licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle

• Strong written and oral communication skills
